    Ordered a 289 kit

I bought a Coupe-R, my wife wanted a Cobra, so we ordered a 289 kit with the plan to add a LeMans hardtop and a rear or under/side exhaust. Just going to find an old 289 and drop it in. Trans not decided yet. 3 link rear end.

Congratulations! If FFR had a 289 option when I built mine that’s what I would have built.

Have a ton of fun with the build!

FIA pin drive wheels arrived today from Trigo wheels, they are really nice!

FFR kindly revised my order at the last minute to a narrow-width 3 link axle, great folks to work with. Curtis at Trigo also excellent, knew exactly what I needed and shipped within a couple of days.

I'm in Junction City, Oregon and started a FFR 289 USRRC-style in August and am looking at how to do a rear exhaust.
Not at the point yet where I can evaluate the twists and turns, but I'll be giving it a high priority.
Reason for rear exh. is that I've owned five '65 GT350s in the distant past and that experience with side exhaust was enough.
    Good Luck!

Yes, I’m looking at assembling my rear exhaust using parts from spintec, I’ve seen some others using their kits and mufflers.

    289 USRRC, F5R1011063RD - delivered same day

    Coupe-R has a Ford Performance 363 mated to a TKX, 18084.
Many details on my Coupe-R are different from a typical Coupe build because mine is not street legal, race only.

    289 has a BP 302 mated to a TKX 18084.

I've looked at Spintec. Seems good, but the custom muffler guy I'll probably use says he doesn't like the sound; couldn't say specifically.
Further, I'm looking for some flatter, oval-shaped pipe for the long runs. Whatever shape-form it takes to equal the area of a 2.5" round pipe (suitable for my BPE 347).
Still not at the exhaust system assessment point yet but I'm thinking I'll make up a special pipe section to get around the IRS. Thinking of a rectangular section that can fab'd to get around the IRS region. Custom TIG-welded structure. Am about ready to make some "models" using thin manilla folder "cardboard" to create the exact structure and then talk with my welder.

I have also been looking at Spintech and am curious what other options are out there for a low profile muffler.
Other mufflers that I have found have a higher profile.

The Spintech muffler I'm using is 4" thick = same as many other mufflers I've seen. Looking on Summit, there are a few that are 4" thick and short enough to fit in the under-seat cavity, but most of those also have that "aggressive sound" rating Magnafow uses in their charts. The Spintech 3000 is not more quiet than the FFR side pipes (I installed temporarily to get the engine running) but the Spintech sound is different, a lower rumble at idle. I haven't driven the car yet, so not sure how they sound at higher RPM or speeds. I do like the Spinach 3000 because it's only 14" long and fits well in the seat cavity, plenty of room for insulation between the muffler and seat pan.

    On my Mk4 with IRS and a 347, I used the Spintech 7000 (2¼” X 9” X 16”) and a custom-built undercar exhaust. You can hear how it sounds - https://youtu.be/nmy-moG5TlY?si=eB4ZOWFOURpMJRWX
