Howdy,
Seriously considering selling my 289, I'm just not getting the use of it that I thought I would. Does anyone have any recent selling experiences to share? Did you sell privately, on the boards here, BaT?
Thanks!
Chris

Try FB marketplace first. Lots of boards to list your car and its free. That's where I sold mine and a couple of other vehicles.

I've sold several. I'd start here. Lots of enthusiasts and you just don't know who might be looking or get interested. Plus the price is right. I've had one experience (FFR 35 Hot Rod Truck) with BaT. It's a bit of a process but it was a positive experience. I'd do it again.

2x this. I went to FB marketplace because Chris did and recommended it on another thread. I had offers in 12 hours and it was sold in 36. I was toing to use BAT but it takes a lot of prep and effort so I figured FB first. Interesting thing is your not listing it "locally". I received calls from as far as California and got an offer from Wisconsin.

My recent experience is probably not typical but for what it's worth---I listed mine here and on 3 of the FFR specific Facebook pages simultaneously. Within an hour I was contacted by gentleman who had been referred to me by a friend of mine who knew the car and saw one of the the listings. This guy had sold his roadster a year previous and found that he and his wife missed it and was ready for another. We talked, I sent him additional photos and within 2 hours the full asking price was wired to my account. Meanwhile, while all of that was going on I had probably 20 other inquiries from parties who had seen it on the forum or one of the FB pages, a few of them claiming that they were ready to buy sight unseen. How legit those all were I can't say but what it indicated to me was that the forum and dedicated Facebook groups generate a lot of exposure! Put it out there and see what happens; if you don't get the response or interest you're looking for I'd then suggest going to BAT with a reserve as Paul and Jesse mentioned.
Good luck!

I recently sold a '67 Mustang. I posted on FB marketplace and on Autotrader classics. Between those two, I got about a thousand scam and lowball offers and zero legitimate offers. I parked the car in our local downtown with a sign for a few weekends, and got a ton of legitimate interest, including the the guy that ultimately bought it.
If I was you, I'd start here and then hit up the local cars and coffee and park it somewhere visible on nice sunny weekends.

I would try FB Marketplace first also, as I just sold my 2020 Corvette there. Free for everyone. I sold a couple of vehicles on BAT, but it is more of a pain, and the buyer has to pay 5% fee. So, you have the potential to get a better price without that fee. The upside and downside of BAT has a lot of very knowledgeable folks that comment. So, depending on the car it can be good and bad.

I just purchased a car from BAT. It was nice to find exactly what I was looking for and there are a ton of enthusiasts that frequent the place. For something exceptional I think you might get a great price from BAT. That said, it is a lot of work, both buying and selling. The 5% fee is on top of the auction amount. Local is probably best if you can find someone.

Set up a new email account and use a google voice number for texts and phone calls for all correspondence between you and the buyers.
A "for sale" ad sets you up for being added to junk mail / scam lists 100% of the time.
Good luck!
