FS: Factory Five Racing 818S #67
SOLD IT! She gone! On her way to Oregon!
Update 8/27/2015: Price lowered to $24,000!
Update 8/6/2015: The car is now titled and registered in California under SB100. Forever exempt from emissions! Also, the new bumper has been installed.
No trades. Please have funding secured prior to contacting me. (If you're looking to finance, look into www.jjbest.com).
$24,000. Contact me directly at [email protected].
For sale is an absolute rocketship of a car. Putting down 341 hp and 390 lb/ft of torque TO THE WHEELS and weighing in at 2,000 lbs. Yes, two THOUSAND pounds. That's 5.86 pounds per HP. To give you a reference, that's more powerful than a C6 Z06 (6.2 lb/hp), Porsche 911 GT2 (6.1 lb/hp), Shelby GT350 (7.20 lb/hp), and the Challenger Hellcat (6.29 lb/hp).
PLUS, it can handle its own on a road course.
This is chassis #67. It was originally titled and registered in Arizona in March 2014 and I've been driving it around since. I have put roughly 3,000 miles on it since completion.
Below, I have provided a link to the build thread on the Factory Five Forums website, an excel spreadsheet showing the parts on the vehicle and their costs, and a link to Photobucket with some higher resolution pictures.

Just a few questions that I’ve received and the applicable answers.
1. Q: How is your car as a daily driver?
A: As it currently sits, I wouldn't really label it "daily drivable"... That's actually one of the reasons that I'm wanting to sell it, so that I can get something that I can enjoy more often. However, my plan is that if I do keep it, I will be trying to make it more "daily drivable". Those plans would include adding carpet, reclining seats, regular 3-point seatbelt, etc.
2. Q: Your car is tuned to E85...can it still run on Cali 91 octane?
A: It currently has a VERY rough 91 ACN (AZ/CA/NV) tune that can be loaded with the Accessport. If you're planning on making that your primary fuel, you do need to have it tuned for it.
3. Q: Is the car only used as a track car? Any ideas about regular MPG street driving?
A: I have driven it mixed, but probably more on the street than the track. I've only done two track weekends with it and I've probably put around 1500 miles on it since completed (I can get the actual mileage if you'd like). The one time that I calculated my MPG was with e85 and it came out around 17 MPG.
4. Q: How comfortable is the car on the street? I had a Z4M roadster and I just sold my BRZ. Is the suspension too stiff for daily driving? The Z4M eventually was a little too rough for LA streets.
A: Aside from the noises, I thought it was pretty comfortable on the street. I actually bought and installed some stiffer springs because of a little rubbing while I was on the track. Of course the original springs are also included. I've never ridden in a Z4M, but I can only imagine that the suspension in the 818 would be a little rougher.
5. Q: How is the transmission? Is the 2nd notchy?
A: The transmission (shifter) feels a little weird to me, but I think that's because it's now using cables. I've always been gentle while shifting, as I've always heard horror stories about the 5 speed being made of "glass". Keep in mind, though, that mine has a 2012 WRX transmission and has the larger/beefier gears in it (same as the LGT gears).
6. Q: Do you know if AC is easy to install? I don't know how you drive it in Arizona summers.
A: While I don't think it would be THAT hard, I do not believe anyone has successfully done it yet. I know AZPete is trying to make it work on his, but I do not believe his is finished yet. I actually didn't drive it that much during the summer. It's not very comfortable and there's little airflow into the cabin.
7. Q: Is the pricing negotiable? I'm not interested in track seats and I know they are not cheap.
A: The price is somewhat negotiable, but not a lot of wiggle room. I'm sure you could easily sell the racing seats and seatbelts to a local NASA SOCAL racer, as they're all FIA rated and still current.

Still for sale! The transmission is being replaced soon with a low mileage unit (~45k miles) from a 2006 WRX.
Oh, and I'm now in northern California, Suisun City to be exact!

It appears that most people are hesitant based on the fact that it's registered in AZ. So, I'm beginning the process to register it in California today. Wish me luck!

Wow, for what you have in it, that's a bargain. I'm torn, I want to build my own... Yet you've done such a great job on your build. Got to give this some thought.

Thanks! I did end up losing a good bit of money... But, that was expected. This is just such a small market... I've decided to stop with the project cars... My next purchase will be a 2012/2013 Audi S4. :-D
