    Delivery Day!

The big day finally came today.

Inventory begins tomorrow. I do have quite a list of backordered parts, but nothing that should keep me from getting started on the build.

Happy days. Give me a shout if you want some extra hands to get the body off onto your buck. I have a 16 and 18 year old weight lifting teenagers who can lend a hand as well.

Thanks, Ron. Just give me a shout anytime you'd like to come out and check out the car. I know your day is coming soon, too and I'd be happy to return the favor with a couple of extra hands!

Remember to do a detailed inventory and consider making a copy of each sheet so that you can tape them to the corresponding boxes.
It will make finding parts in the early stages of your build a lot easier.

My wife and I spent six hours doing inventory today and found a few issues. I've already e-mailed Courtnie and expect she will get me squared away quickly. As you and others have suggested, I made copies of the inventory sheets and attached them to their respective boxes. We also had the body out in the sun all day and will do so a few more time to ensure the resin cures completely. Funny how that bright red shell turned the heads of most people that drove by my house today!

GoDadGo has a great idea about putting a copy on each box. That would have made it a lot easier for me. Stupid me kept going to the Manilla envelope and trying to dig through the stack of inventory papers. Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees I guess.

    Congratulations!

If you haven't taken the body off, don't do it just yet. First make sure the aluminum panels don’t contact the fiberglass body; this prevents paint chipping and general wear & tear. Before taking off the body, hold a Sharpie flush with the fiberglass body and mark the firewall, back of cockpit in the trunk, and side panels for the trunk to ensure there’s no interference. The distance between the side of the Sharpie (which is flush with the trunk) and the nib will provide adequate clearance for the bulb seal.

    Cheers,

    John

Congratulations on the delivery! What an exciting day. I know you must be stoked after waiting for so long.

Good luck as you get started, and don't be afraid to ask questions. There are some great folks here with loads of experience, and who are extremely generous with their time and advice! They have helped me tremendously, and have made the process so much easier.

I look forward to following your progress.

    Regards,

    Steve

I'm toying with the idea of a build thread. I think it would be fun to read through it after my build is done and reflect on the experience.

It's also a great supplement to the build manual when you have to fix something later on. I'm much more likely to remember what I did if I write it down and can read what I did later.
