    Another 3rd brake light mod

Wanted a 3rd brake light for visibility. Couple of posts got me thinking and did a mock up today.

Have a carbon fiber accent theme going so figure try using the down leg.

Down leg, LED light kit for motorcycles and carbon fiber tube.

Cut some notches in the carbon fiber tube

Some paint, change the white LEDs to red. Got white because the lumen output was so much higher.

Still some fitting to do to get the carbon fiber tube mated to top of roll bar hoop and some silicone to lock in LEDs. LEDs are waterproof.

Love the creativity! Are you doing one roll bar or two?

Love your idea. Tell ya a secret about LEDs. The LED needs to be the same color as the lens for maximum illumination. Red LEDs on a red lens, etc. That way the lens is not blocking any of the light. White LED's behind a red lens means the lens will block everything except the red light, which you see as reduced light output.

Yours does look pretty bright and at that height, it will certainly garner attention.

Will tie it into the brake light wire heading to the back so when they trip, these will trip.

Yeah, read those posts, just wasn't confident on the red LED output according to the specs. The kit was around $30, so if the white with paint failed, I'd go with the reds.

Yep, have a passenger side as well and will do the same on the other side for symmetry
