818S H6 #332: First time on the ground and start-up!
First time off the stands after almost 2.5 years of build. The primary reason was to be able to get it outside if needed at the "first start"... It did take a couple days of testing ECU settings and head scratching, but eventually I hit it (thank you internet!). Good news was that the wiring etc. is 100% right the first time.
A day later I drove up and down my street, and had a total flashback/re-occurrence of getting the stink-eye from the same neighbor as I did 17 years ago when first go-karting my DSR!
Now back up on the stands and dig out the bodywork.

I am just north of you on the peninsula and would like to come see it in person. Please send me a private message and let me know if that would be possible.
Thanks!

That's awesome! Congrats. Hoping to get my first start in the next week or two. Your build looks amazing so far! Can't wait to see how you finish it.

Nice job on the build. Did you have a build thread? I don't remember seeing one. I try to follow all the H6 stuff since I have one myself.
Your headers and exhaust look great, do you have any pics of them, I would like to see more. I am thinking of redoing my exhaust this winter and I like how you routed things.

Yes, I love Technology
Happy day!!! Thanks for showing & nice work.

Thanks to all. I don't have a build thread, but I've been following all of yours! So thanks for that inspiration.
I got hit with a virus (came with a header calc. program I downloaded...) and wiped the first year and a half of pic's I had been logging for a thread. After that I was so pissed I mostly stopped taking regular pics. That said, I did just dump some here including headers.

Back on the ground, and straight on the road! Paid my dues and got an SB100 number, passed CHP and brake-and-lamp, next stop BAR!

Congrats. Just got my BAR inspection today. He did require the actual SB-100 document from Sacramento. The paper from DMV with the number assignment was not enough for BAR. Just a heads up.
Do you need anything more that a closed loop PCV system for the 818? Just curious.

Thanks. Yeah, the BAR wouldn't even give me an appointment without the doc "because sometimes they change". Sure enough a week after I got the number at the DMV, I got a call from Sacramento with my "new number"... PCV is all I have (proper hose type thanks to Steve!) so hopefully it goes OK.

There's definitely no replacement for 2 more cylinders.
Nice startup button too!

What gas pedal are you using?
Gas_Pedal.jpg
I was looking through your pics and saw you are using a floor mounted pedal. I am thinking about switching from the Subaru top mounted swing pedal and I am looking for ideas. What make, model, year is that out of and how do you like it?

Sweet start up, just like it came from the factory. Awesome build by the way!

Thanks all.
'Really enjoying the car. Unfortunately, since getting it on the road I have not done much/any work on it (alignment). Now when I find weekend time, I go for a drive. Also I'm still able to commute at least 1 day a week here in CA. I think I'm at about 400 miles now. I'm still working on license and reg.- thanks to and extra "0" put on me by the DMV in my first appointment. The temp. tag is good until February, so I'm not worrying about it at all. Red gel coat is "not so bad" (yes it is!) either. Wife says the house gets painted first... I sure would like a nice look like Hobby Racer or Frank818!
The gas pedal is Nissan/Infiniti G35, and i think it's common to other cars. I started with a 2007 model, as I have ~150K on one and liked it. Great fit & feel in the 818.

Glad you have it on the road! I have the same problem where I'm driving more than working on it. Need to finish the body and get it painted sometime.

I love those headers! How did you do your engine mounts? From the header picture it looks like you have at least an inch .

Thanks. Building them was actually pretty fun- first time for me. I must have lifted myself from under the car a thousand times! More than a couple pipe-drops to the face too...
For the mounts, I started with the stock EZ30 mount and modeled it. Then I modeled the Group N mount, and "placed" it where the face of the EZ mount is. Then I designed an adapter with the EZ30 engine mounting points and Group N below. All at the same height as the OEM mount. Then after all that including some major PITA machining by a friend- I see another thread where they jacked the EZ30 up another inch, so I added the big lame pads.... It's actually only ~3/8" above the lower frame tubes, but still plenty clear of the floor I'm working on now.
