I have considered one, but for some reason have not gone that route.
Originally, I did not like the idea of not adjustable by lever.
I might change my mind when I pull the seat and see what kind of hole alignment I am seeing.
Thanks for the suggestion.

That is where I got the idea of tilting the front. But I wasn’t gonna pay all of that money to do something I could do with literally three dollars worth of Hardware. I do not need to move my seat forward or backwards for any reason that I know of. So at the moment anyway I’m pretty happy with it.

BadAsp427,
Thanks for putting together this build thread! Your speedy progress is inspirational.
Regarding your chassis dolly, the 21" lift seems like it would be a convenient height to work at. This may be a dumb question, but how did you get the car off of the dolly when the time came for the first start?

Thanks for the comments...
Do you really want to know the true balancing act that I went through? LOL.
It was a combination of wood blocks under jack stands and floor jacks. It was a little bit of a hassle, but it was only one time.
Just remember, if you build the dolly as I did, use wood glue and several 8" long lag bolts. Mine was solid as a rock when it was done.

Or maybe it was just my anti-gravity device I have in my garage.

Haha, I figured that might be the case. Thanks for the reply!

At Jeff Kleiner's shop
I had the opportunity to visit my build up in Bloomington IN today at Jeff's shop. He has completed a lot of work on it and while the body was off, I needed to do some minor work. Here are a couple photos of the build as it currently sits. Seeing all the work that Jeff had completed actually made me excited to see all the dust on everything, knowing it was only a few steps away from being beautiful. Shouldn't be long now and I'll be making the final decisions on color, stripes, etc. Exciting times.

Thanks Jeff for taking the time to talk with me and allow me to work in your shop...

Getting very close to having a completed paint job....
It looks like only a week or two more before I will be able to show the world my completed and graduated 20th Anniversary Mk4. Based on my most recent conversation with Jeff on Oct 25th he said it would be about 10 days before he would have the final sealer/primer on and ready for color. I can only guess that I should be getting it around next weekend, November 13th or so. I'm not 100% sure yet... It's been a long patient 120+ day wait since it was dropped off on July 10th. Final colors have been selected and based on my last conversation Jeff should have the final sealer/primer on it by now.
During that Oct 25 conversation, I asked Jeff to send me my Roll Bar beauty rings so that I could polish them up. He sent them right away and I did my thing and sent them back. Here are a couple before/after photos of those rings.
This is a photo of the rings as they have been for the past 10,000 miles
IMG_0669.jpg
This is a photo of one polished, and one prior to polish
IMG_0670.jpg
Here are all 6 after polishing and just before returning them to Jeff for installation after paint.

Those trim rings look good. Did you put a clear coat on them, after polishing?
I might look into that, before the car leaves for Jeff.

No clear coat. Just polished them on the bench grinder/polish wheel. I figured the clear coat would not look as good. When are you thinking you will have your car to jeff?

I am optimistically looking at late winter.
I plan on hauling up there on an open trailer, getting a couple of new spare tires and gathering up all the trim pieces.
Undecided on how to get it home.

At last.... some photos of the car nearing paint completion...
Today, Jeff K was able to get his camera over to the office to upload some photos of the work he has completed over the past 4 months. Looks like he will have some paint on it in the next week or so. Fingers crossed, Thanksgiving completion. I may be a little optimistic on that timing, (not the first time) but one can hope.

One of the challenges that Jeff encountered was some issues with the fiberglass not being done properly and having "blowouts" along the door jams. Here is one of the photos he sent me of this problem before he did his repairs.

Received some more photos from the painter
Here are some progression shots... starting with the 1500 grit, 3000 grit and then the buffer... followed by some progression shots of the body going on to the chassis, the windshield going on, the hood, followed by the hood scoop and so on. Really starting to look like my vision. Can't wait to see how it looks with the final buff and in the sun.

Wheel Knockoffs Polished and ready.
As the day approches that I get to see my completed paint and body work I've been tinkering around. Tonight I was packing the trailer for the trip and thought, what the heck, let's polish up the wheel knockoffs and take them along so I can install them for the pickup photos. I would say I spent about 10 minutes with each one of them at the bench grinder with the polish wheel.
Here is the before photo. And for the record, I thought they looked pretty good at this point.
IMG_1033.jpg
and here is an after photo taken in the exact same position and lighting.
IMG_1037.jpg
I found it really hard to take a photo of them and do them any justice so here are a couple photos that really show the mirror finish I was able to obtain. Notice the reflection of the towel and the Sharpy.
IMG_1036.jpg
IMG_1038.jpg
And one last shot with a before/after together in the same photo
IMG_1034.jpg
And a couple more photos received from the painter today with the rear over riders in place and showing the inside of the trunk lid. Now I have to clean up that truck and finish it out. Still trying to decide exactly what I'm going to do there. Most likely just some simple short pile gray carpet with the aluminum cover plates over the top of it.

Picking it up and bringing it home 12-19-20
This weekend will mark the end of a long 23 weeks. I'm getting my car back from the painter. I'll be making the drive up to Bloomington IN from South Carolina to load it up and bring it home. The paint and body work on it looks amazing. I've looked at all the photos I've posted on several different computer and phone screens and the Porsche Carmine Red looks different on all of them. I can not wait to see it in person. The plan is to also have Chad's (CV2065) car and mine side by side for some photo ops on Sunday... Chad's car is painted with the same color, but with different accents and stripes... Should be a great opportunity. More to come...
The strip is actually a metallic gray that was color matched to the Halibrand wheels. The lighting on these photos do not do the stripes justice.
