Did you know that Kit cars more than 15 years old can be sold into Canada.......

Now that some of the Factory Five Cobras are 15 years old they can be sold into Canada. Under Canadian federal DOT rules if you have an unbroken paper trail showing that you car was first registered more than 15 years ago it can now be sold into Canada.

So if you have an Early MK 1 and are looking to sell it you might want to remember to post it in cars for sale section with a note in the Canadian forum letting the Canadian buyers know your car is for sale and qualifies for importation into Canada.

Feel free to contact me if you would like more info.

    Hi Al,
Is it from the registration date or from when the kit was sold by FFR? I wonder how many actually got registered in the first couple of years?

    Cheers, Rod

Canada Customs only considers the initial registration date since in their view before the car was registered it did not exist.

As for how many were registered in the early years I bought my first kit in the fall of 1996 and it was number 281 in the production run, so it is correct that initially there will be only a few cars but the number of eligable cars will grow monthly.

I beleive it works the same way selling cars from Canada into the US as well, but someone on the US side would need to conform that.

This is good news, as the selection of cars in Canada is limited.

I have been looking for a car that meets this criteria, but no luck so far.
If anybody has a line on one of these cars post it up.
    Thanks

    Rodney
